How to Get Rid of Interlace Lines on an HD Camcorder

There are many types of HD video. In the consumer, industrial, and professional worlds, HD formats include 1080p, 1080i, 720p, and 720i. At the professional level, there are even 2K and 4K HD formats. Progressive formats have higher motion quality than interlaced formats with the same resolution. Most HDTV broadcasts are either 1080i or 720p. However, computer screens are all progressive scan. When compressing for the web, if your HD content was originated in an interlaced format, it should be deinterlaced for conversion to a progressive scan computer screen. To get rid of the interlace lines in your HD camcorder footage, you will need a video editing program such as Final Cut Pro. Published on 1/28/2010
